Sparkle.
Welcome to winter. Like a messenger sent from the heavens, that first flake of snow signals the beginning of an annual miracle. Ski resorts with names like Heavenly and Sierra-At-Tahoe® and Kirkwood begin the mountain ritual of welcoming skiers and boarders. Sledders and sleigh-riders discover joy in simply sliding over the whiteness, while those piloting snowmachines or snowshoes take to the trees in their quest for adventure. Descend upon Lake Tahoe’s South Shore for a variety of pro skiing and snowboarding events. In the evening, the action goes indoors with nightclubs, top name entertainers and dining choices too endless to count.
New this season Heavenly Mountain Resort celebrated the opening of Tamarack Lodge, a 14,980-square-foot venue that includes a restaurant, bar, 500 indoor seats and 250 outdoor patio seats at the top of the Gondola. The new Lodge is consistent with Heavenly’s ongoing commitment to providing the finest on-mountain experience for skiers and snowboarders. The resort’s revitalization over the past eight years has included upgraded lifts, increased snowmaking and grooming, a four-lane tubing mecca at Heavenly’s Adventure Peak and additional on-mountain amenities. This season the resort will launch epicmix™, a ground-breaking online and mobile application that allows skiers and snowboarders to digitally capture and share their mountain experiences. Sierra-At-Tahoe® Resort added two new surface lifts for the 2010-11 season. Totaling 700 feet, the two new carpet conveyor lifts will allow beginning skiers and snowboarders to access 11 acres of sculpted “Smart Terrain” that shorten the learning curve for beginners.
